Share a File

In your channel conversation, click Attach beneath your compose box.
Select a file, click Open, and then Send .
You can always see all the files you post to a channel by going to the Files tab.

Start a New Conversation

...with the whole team
1) Click Teams button  , then pick a team and a channel.
2) In the compose box, say what's on your mind and click Send Send button

...with a person or group
1) At the top of the app, click New chat New .
2) In the To field, type the name of the person or people you want to chat with.
3) In the compose box, say what you have to say and click Send .

Mute an attendee

In large meetings (> 5 people), anyone who joins after the meeting has started, will join as muted thereby reducing noise in the meeting. Further, if you notice any noise from others, you can mute that person, or mute everyone, easily from the roster  If someone has been muted, they'll get a notification letting them know. They'll be able to unmute themselves if they need to be heard.

If you ever need to mute all the other participants in a meeting, head to your meeting roster  and select ‘Mute all’. Everyone will get a notification and be able to unmute themselves if they need to. You cannot unmute anyone for privacy reasons.

Share your screen

While in a meeting you can share a window, file or your entire screen. Click on the share button  to view your options and begin sharing.

To view participants in the meeting click on the show participants button  while in the meeting

Record a meeting

To record a meeting click on the three dots  while in the meeting and then click 

Join a Teams Meeting from a conference roomTeams is fully integrated with our conference rooms. When setting up a Teams meetings from Outlook, go ahead and invite the room as a resource to the meeting. When you enter the room, you will see a join button next to your meeting that will appear 5 minutes prior to the start of the meeting. Simply click join and you're in!

If you don't see a join button next to your meeting, just click the join Skype/Teams button and enter the VTC info from your invite (highlighted in yellow in the example to the right).

What is a Teams live event?Microsoft Teams live events are an extension of Teams meetings that enable you to schedule and produce events that stream to large online audiences! Use live events when you have a large number of participants in the session and would like more control over the content that you present to your users. Live events include options for Q&A as well.

Where is my chat history?Teams saves your entire chat history, all the way back to the first message you sent. And if someone leaves your organization, their chat responses are still there in your chat history. You can search through this information directly within teams or request that IT extract information at the tenant level should the user no longer be with the organization.

You can delete individual messages you've sent, but you can’t turn off your whole chat history.
How do I add someone to a private chat?

To loop someone into a private conversation, just click the Add people  button at the top right corner of your screen. Then, type the name of the person you’d like to add and press Enter!

Can I send a message to someone on Skype for Business from Microsoft Teams?You can use Microsoft Teams to chat with someone who’s using Skype for Business. Simply start a one-on-one chat with the person you’d like to talk to, and they’ll get your message in Skype for Business. 

Note that some enhanced features of Teams will not be available during cross platform chats.
Can I send group messages to Skype for Business users?Unfortunately, group messages can’t be sent to people using Skype for Business. However, whenever someone invites you to a group conversation from Skype for Business, you’ll get a notification in Microsoft Teams! Then, you can join the conversation back in Skype for Business.
Is chatting with Skype for Business users in Microsoft Teams any different?Chatting with someone on Skype for Business from within Microsoft Teams is pretty cool, but you’ll be missing out on fun things like emoji, file attachments, and tabs. Also, your conversation history won’t be saved, so if you update, refresh, or open up Microsoft Teams on a different platform (like mobile), you won’t be able to view your old messages.
How do I know which conversations include me?

If you’re worried about knowing when someone in a conversation needs your attention, just keep an eye on your  Activity feed. There, you’ll get a notification whenever someone:

@mentions you (you’ll also see your @mentions in the conversation, where you can spot them easily).

@mentions teams and channels you belong to.

Replies to conversations you’re part of.

Replies to your replies.

What’s the difference between team channels and private chats?Team channels are places where everyone on the team can have open conversations. Private chats are only visible to those people in the chat.
What are teams in Microsoft Teams?Teams are collections of people, content, and tools that center around different projects and jobs within an organization. In Microsoft Teams, team members can have conversations and share files, notes, and more.
What is Microsoft Teams and why would I use it?Microsoft Teams is a messaging app for teams where all conversations, meetings, files, and notes can be accessed by everyone, all in one place. It’s a place for collaboration and work to happen in the open. Microsoft Team’s interface is reminiscent of social media chat clients, like Facebook or Google Hangouts.
What’s a channel?Channels are dedicated sections within a team to keep conversations organized by specific topics, projects, disciplines.
Which browsers are supported?The Microsoft Teams app works in the the following desktop browsers:

How do I make sure people in a team or channel see my message?The best way is to @mention them. Type @ before someone's name and they will get a notification.

To get the attention of the entire team, type @team before your message and all your teammates will receive notifications.
What are the tabs in Microsoft Teams? Tabs allow team members to access services on a dedicated section within a channel or in a chat. This lets the team work directly with tools and data and have conversations about them in the context of the channel or chat. Tabs can be added to help users easily access and manage the data they need or interact with the most. 
Are my files and conversations in Microsoft Teams secure?Microsoft Teams is built on the Office 365 hyper-scale, enterprise-grade cloud, delivering the advanced security and compliance capabilities. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

Files are stored in SharePoint and are backed by SharePoint encryption. Notes are stored in OneNote and are backed by OneNote encryption. You can read more about security and compliance in Microsoft's documentation found here.
Can I rename a team?A team name cannot be renamed after it has been created; however, you can change its display name. 
I deleted a team. Can I restore it?A deleted team can be restored by an Office 365 administrator up to thirty days after the team was deleted. If you need a team restored, please submit a ticket to Collaboration Support. 
Can I still call a Skype for Business user in my organisation?Yes, while we are working to fully migrate to Teams, you can still make a one to one call to users who are on Skype.
How will Skype for Business users join my Microsoft Teams meeting?They can join via the Teams client or via the Teams web app in a browser (with audio, video and desktop sharing). The Skype for Business client cannot directly join a Microsoft Teams meeting.
Can I tag a contact for presence status change?Yes, in Chat under contacts, find the person, click the three dots and select “Notify when available”
Can I still join a Skype for Business meeting?Yes, if a user wants to join a Skype for Business meeting, the Skype for Business client will join.
Why do I still have a Skype client if I am Teams only?Your Skype client will remain on your desktop for the time being as it will enable you to join Skype meetings that may have been scheduled in the past.

Can I automatically import SharePoint data from another site into the Teams site?No, however it is possible to link to another SharePoint site using the tabs system in the menu bar. You can find it by clicking the '+'.

Note: Teams creates its own SharePoint site for each team that is unrelated to your own SharePoint site.
What is the difference between a Team and a Channel?Teams are made up of channels, which are the conversations you have with your teammates. Each channel is dedicated to a specific topic, department, or project.

Channels are where the work actually gets done—where text, audio, and video conversations open to the whole team happen, where files are shared, and where apps are added.
Why don't I see a chat icon on my Teams client.We are still in the process of rolling out full Teams functionality to the entire organization. Our current taget date is October 7th, meaning by this date you should have all Teams functions available to you. Keep an eye on your inbox as more communications will follow.
What happens after I am moved to Teams Only mode?After you are upgraded to Teams (Teams only mode):

Your Skype for Business client will be disabled for use as all chat and calls will go to Teams. This client will continue to be used for previously scheduled Skype for Business meetings. If this desktop client is uninstalled, you will be redirected to access previously scheduled Skype for Business meetings via the Skype for Business web app.

Any Skype for Business meetings scheduled before the upgrade will work as designed, but all new meetings will be scheduled in Teams.

If you attempt to sign in to Skype for Business, they’ll get a notification from their client that they’ve been upgraded to Teams.

You will need to manually uninstall the Skype for Business client on their mobile device.
